Happy President’s Day Weekend, CDA Members! These are certainly interesting and dynamic times, both at the Presidential and CDA level! We’ll just report about our industry happenings and leave other news updates to the media professionals.

CDA’s awesome So Cal Networking Reception is about three weeks away – Tuesday, March 14, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, at the Daily Grill in the Burbank Marriott across the street from Burbank Airport. Food, beverages, great issues and networking. $35 for CDA members, FREE for non-members and guests. Sign up today and bring a friend (flyer attached). CDA Exhibiting at ECA’s “2017 Shippers/Carriers Marketplace” March 28-30!
In an effort to show our great member value and the power of our business-to-business networking, CDA will have a booth at the Express Carriers Association’s “2017 Shippers & Carriers Marketplace”, March 28-30 at the InterContinental in Dallas, Texas. This is THE national conference where Shippers and Carriers network and provide referrals to form delivery and logistical partnerships – that means business opportunities for us, people! Thanks to our very own Ian Finn (One Hour Delivery/Walnut Creek) and JC Burnett (Loadchief, Courier-Messenger/Santa Clarita), who are making the journey “on their own nickel” and manning CDA booth to sign people up to join CDA, get folks to post RFPs and give us referrals. If you’re a shipper/carrier or someone else interested in connecting with CDA and our members, please be sure to stop by our booth! Find out more at http://www.expresscarriers.
CDA continues to make noise on your behalf at the federal level
This past week, CDA joined other leading commercial motor vehicle operators and business organizations by signing onto two important coalition letters affecting our industry:
- Letter to U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, urging repeal/reform of the onerous federal Safety Fitness Determination regulations based on flawed data and will be overly-restrictive and cause undue burden on courier businesses in CA and the nation. (see attached)
- Letter to Congressional leadership demanding a permanent solution to the harmful “joint employment liability” standard created by the over-reaching National Labor Relations Board, which is creating huge costs and hardships for our industry and countless others. (see attached)
